Huygens Engineers is a leading engineering company focused on developing and improving high-quality technical systems and components. We operate in four industries where we experience significant cross-fertilization of technologies. With our multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and scientists, we serve as a one-stop shop for engineering, technical development, and certification. We can execute a well-defined work package or guide a project from concept to detailed design and validation. Additionally, our engineering firm provides analytical support in specialized areas. Our sister company, Huygens Equipment, produces small series of the realized designs.
As an engineering agency, we are employed for highly specialized assignments, for work packages where we serve as an extension of R&D and engineering departments, and also as a fully independent, flexible external R&D and engineering department.

Straightforward engineering, analysis and realisation (TRL 9)
For projects with a clear start and end point, where there are no doubts about feasibility, applicable methods, and deliverables. Work involves components, machines, and systems that are subsequently built for use. This includes drawing packages, calculations, and reports. Building a prototype is often part of the project. Small series can be delivered by Huygens Equipment.

Feasibility studies and ideation (TRL 3-6)
Analysis and simulation are a pillar of our engineering firm
Between 30% and 35% of our engineering work involves analysis and simulation. This includes:
- Fluid behavior with analytical approximations, advanced CFD simulations, and heat transfer. We also work on projects with less common questions involving wall elasticity, combustion, viscoelasticity, etc.
- Strength, fatigue, and vibration analysis for components and systems, both analytically and using FEA (FEM).
- Electromagnetic simulation of electrical machines (motors, generators, actuators, electromagnets, etc.) from small to MW power.
- PGMD and RfG grid compliance studies (type B, C, D), including project management, simulation, and validation. We also provide selectivity studies, cable calculations, and load flow and short-circuit current studies.
- Behavior of complex dynamic systems and control algorithms, where advanced models are used to explore the maximum achievable while avoiding risks.
Of the 26 engineers, 8 work on simulation and analysis, both within multidisciplinary projects and within standalone analysis projects. A wide range of software is available for this purpose, as well as a minicluster for efficient execution.
